Which method is better for processing soybean oil, pressing or leaching?

As an important oil crop, beans are widely planted in the world. The oil content of common soybean is about 17%, which makes it an important source for extracting vegetable oil. At present, soybean oil production mainly adopts two processes: pressing process and leaching process. The oil is squeezed out of soybean by physical pressure. Although it is simple, the oil yield is relatively low. However, the solvent extraction technology is used in the leaching process, which can extract the oil from soybean more efficiently and has a higher oil yield, but it needs more complicated equipment and process control.
The choice of processing technology for soybean oil depends on the market positioning and size of the oil plant.

Pressing soybean oil mainly extracts oil by physical pressing, which does not involve chemical solvents, so it is more natural and environmentally friendly, and is suitable for small and medium-sized edible oil processing plants. Pressing method usually requires less equipment investment and simple operation, but the oil yield is relatively low, which is suitable for markets with high product quality requirements.
In contrast, soybean oil is leached by solvent leaching technology, which is a chemical method to extract oil from soybean by solvent. Leaching method has the advantages of high oil yield and full utilization of raw materials, and is suitable for large-scale production in large edible oil processing plants. Although the equipment investment and technical requirements of leaching method are higher, its production efficiency and economic benefits are relatively higher.
